So, which embroidery product is right for you? We’ve put together this comparison to help guide you to the right solution.
How Much Do Magnetic Embroidery Hoops Cost in 2026?
Magnetic embroidery hoops range from under $135 to $249 for the patented Mighty Hoops. Most embroiderers spend somewhere between $135 and $541, depending on whether they buy an individual hoop or a full starter kit.
At HoopMaster, we invented the magnetic embroidery hoop and manufacture the patented Mighty Hoop at our facility in Germantown, Wisconsin. We’ve watched this product category grow from a single patented design to a crowded market with options at every price point, and we’ve fielded thousands of calls from embroiderers trying to figure out what they should actually spend. That gives us a useful perspective on what embroiderers want and need for their production.
What Determines the Price of a Magnetic Embroidery Hoop?
Not all magnetic embroidery hoops are built the same way, and the price differences reflect real differences in materials, engineering, and what happens after the sale.
- Magnet type and strength. Mighty Hoops use Neodymium magnets (the strongest type of commercially available permanent magnet) these magnets cost more than ferrite or ceramic magnets. The magnet type directly affects grip strength, which determines whether a hoop can handle thick materials like Carhartt jackets, canvas, and leather.
- Manufacturing origin. Mighty Hoops are manufactured in the USA. They cost more to produce than those manufactured overseas. Domestic manufacturing means higher labor costs, stricter quality control standards, and shorter supply chains. This allows for quick shipping and support.
- Machine-specific engineering. Mighty Hoops are engineered with brackets designed for specific embroidery machine brands and sewing field widths. These designs are developed and tested directly with most machine manufacturers. This helps ensure you get the most accurate fit and best performance from the hoop.
- Materials and construction. Injection-molded plastic, machined solid plastic, magnet count per ring, and overall build quality all affect cost. Hoops designed for daily commercial use need to withstand thousands of hooping cycles without cracking, warping, or losing magnetic strength. Mighty Hoops are used by shops with over 600 embroidery heads to hobbyist with a single needle embroidery machine.
- Warranty and support. Mighty Hoops offer a 3 year warranty. A warranty adds cost to the manufacturer, but gives customers piece of mind knowing that any problems that arise can be taken care of. There are Mighty Hoops in production shops that are more than 15 years old and still being used every day. Some hoops come with no warranty at all.
- Replacement parts availability. This is a cost factor most buyers overlook. If a single component breaks (a bracket, a bottom ring, a screw), can you replace just that part, or do you have to buy an entirely new hoop? Over the life of the product, the ability to replace individual components can save hundreds of dollars. Mighty Hoops are produced in our own facility and almost any individual part can be replaced.
Mighty Hoop Pricing: What Our Magnetic Hoops Cost
We publish all of our pricing on hoopmaster.com, so there’s nothing hidden here. Below is a breakdown of what you can expect to spend.
Individual Mighty Hoops: $135 to $219
Each Mighty Hoop is priced by size and includes one set of machine-specific brackets. The hoop consists of a top ring and a bottom ring, both embedded with neodymium magnets that lose only a small fraction of their magnetic performance every 100 years under optimum conditions.
Every Mighty Hoop is designed, engineered, and manufactured at our Germantown, Wisconsin facility. Each one is backed by a three-year warranty and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
When ordering, you select your embroidery machine brand, then select the sewing field width for your specific machine model. If you need to use the same hoop on a different stmachine, additional bracket sets are available separately rather than requiring a second hoop purchase.
Mighty Hoop Starter Kit: $541
The starter kit is the most common entry point for embroiderers trying magnetic hoops for the first time. It includes:
- 5.5″ Mighty Hoop with machine adapter brackets
- 5.5” fixture with FreeStyle arm to help hold the hoop and backing for easy and accurate placement
- HoopMaster Station (the alignment and placement system)
- T-Square – a special measuring device that is used during the hooping process
- Portable Mounting Base
This kit gives you everything needed to start hooping with both the magnetic hoop and the HoopMaster placement system. The station’s grid system lets you document the exact placement position for each design, so any operator in your shop can replicate the same placement on repeat orders without measuring and marking each garment individually.
Upgraded Kits: $816 to $835
These are starter kits bundled with additional larger hoops for shops that know they’ll need multiple sizes from the start. You can also add the extra pieces later.
Accessories
Individual components on the Mighty Hoop can be replaced down to the smallest screw. Here’s what common replacement parts and add-ons cost if they are out of warranty:
| Item | Price Range |
| Bottom Ring (Strong or Weak) | $49 to $55.54 |
| Size-specific Fixtures | $175 to $231 |
| Adjustable Fixtures | $94 to $140 |
| Additional Bracket Sets | $22.50 |
| Portable Mounting Base | $60 |
| Backing Holder | $40 to $50 |
The Strong bottom ring is the standard version with a full set of magnets, capable of gripping everything from thin fabric to heavy workwear. The Weak bottom ring has fewer magnets and is designed for shops that primarily hoop thinner garments. Both are available as standalone replacement parts.

OEM Magnetic Hoops from Machine Manufacturers
Several embroidery machine manufacturers now offer their own branded magnetic hoops. Brother and Baby Lock both sell OEM magnetic frames designed for their machines. Pricing for these OEM options is significantly higher than Mighty Hoops and are machine specific and not as versatile:
| Product Type | Typical Price Range |
| OEM magnetic hoops (Brother, Baby Lock) | $197 to $896+ |
| Mighty Hoops | $135 to $219 per hoop |
| Budget magnetic hoops (imported) | $85 to $255 |
OEM magnetic hoops are designed for a single machine brand and are often sold exclusively through the machine manufacturer’s dealer network. The higher pricing reflects brand markup, limited distribution, and the fact that the manufacturer controls the entire supply chain.
One thing worth considering: OEM hoops are designed specifically for that manufacturer’s machines, which means if you upgrade to a different machine brand later, those hoops probably won’t transfer. Mighty Hoops offer bracket compatibility across multiple brands and give you more flexibility if your shop runs different machines or plans to upgrade.
Chinese Magnetic Hoops
At the lower end of the market, you’ll find magnetic hoops priced between approximately $85 and $120. These hoops and fixtures are marketed under names such as MaggieFrames, SewTech, and generic labels like Magnetic Hoops. These products infringe one or more claims of U.S. patents owned by Midwest Products, which protect the technology used in our original Mighty Hoops. As a result, importing or using these infringing products in the United States can carry legal consequences.
To make their products appear legitimate and legally acceptable in the U.S. market, these companies actively recruit content creators and influencers to demonstrate, recommend, and promote them. Unfortunately, they often fail to disclose the patent infringement concerns or the potential legal risks associated with promoting infringing products. This can expose creators and influencers to liability for inducing patent infringement, even when they are simply recommending a product to their audience. In our experience, these companies prioritize making sales over respecting intellectual property rights or protecting the customers and creators who support them. We strongly caution against doing business with companies that are willing to place others at legal risk to sell their products.
How to Figure Out What You Actually Need
The total cost of getting started with magnetic embroidery hoops depends on which sizes you need and whether you want just the hoops or the full hooping system. Here’s how to narrow it down.
Step 1: Confirm your machine compatibility
Before purchasing any magnetic hoop, confirm your embroidery machine’s sewing field measurements. This determines which hoop sizes will fit your machine. You can find the sizes of hoops that fit different brands by clicking on your brand of machine at this link. Mighty Hoops for each brand.
Step 2: Identify the sizes you need
The right hoop size depends on what you embroider most. The general rule: choose the smallest hoop that fits your design, with the design approximately 1″ smaller than the hoop size. Our guide on recommended Mighty Hoop sizes for popular placements and garments breaks this down by placement type (left chest, full back, sleeves) and garment type (beanies, bodysuits, sweatshirts).
Step 3: Decide between hoops only or a full kit
If you only want to replace your traditional hoops with magnetic ones, individual Mighty Hoops at $135 to $219 each are the straightforward option.
If you also want consistent placement across production runs (useful for repeat orders, training new employees, or multi-operator shops), the Mighty Hoop Starter Kit at $541 includes a magnetic hoop and the HoopMaster placement system. Our HoopMaster vs. Mighty Hoop comparison page explains the difference between using a Mighty Hoop on its own and pairing it with the station.
Step 4: Estimate your startup cost
Here are a few common scenarios:
| Scenario | What You’d Buy | Approximate Cost |
| One magnetic hoop to try it out | Individual Mighty Hoop | $135 to $219 |
| Full starter setup with placement system | Mighty Hoop Starter Kit | $541 |
| Starter kit plus an additional larger hoop | Upgraded Kit | $816 to $835 |
| Adding a second hoop size to the existing setup | Individual Mighty Hoop | $135 to $219 |
Most embroiderers start with one or two sizes and add more as they take on different types of work. You don’t need every size on day one.
Magnetic Embroidery Hoop Pricing, Summarized
Mighty Hoops range from $135 to $219 for most sizes, some OEM hoops made by Brother are $197 to $896, but the price alone doesn’t tell you what you’re getting. The magnet type, manufacturing quality, warranty, replacement parts availability, and machine-specific engineering all factor into whether a hoop is worth what it costs.
